Artist Statement: I'll Take Your Picture under the Dogwood Tree is a series photographed on film, originally born out of my panic during lockdown. As I stepped into new motherhood in March of 2020, my usual work in the photo industry screeched to a halt. While forced to be at home, and feeling a lack of control and uncertainty over my place in the world as an artist and mother, I dove head first into creating pictures that felt grounding for me during an unstable time. As a highly sensitive individual, I often describe this work as a visual meditation, both in the creation and the viewing of the pieces. These deeply feminine pictures are in constant conversation with our energy centers, as they explore surrender, and the temporary nature of beauty.
